"The Meat Pieces"

Being an older fella and working with younger fellas and gals, I’ve noticed an odd (and new to me) passion for something that I’ve rarely thought twice about until now: bacon. For some reason, possibly generational, I’m seeing bacon being almost worshipped by a large swath of folks of a certain younger demographic. My unscientific assumption is that this demo was grokking food at the time when bacon was a “bad thing” as declared by the nutritional gurus of the time (mid-1980s). So bacon was a food not often found on these kids’ dinner tables. But it’s been rediscovered by these former kids who are now in charge of their own food intake. Me, I could take it or leave it. But apparently some folks never really had it so they’re making up for lost culinary time. I wonder if the next generation will embark on their own love affair with this year’s banished trans fats. Or George Bush. So, for the newly arrived bacon lovers...
